1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year

Yet only one in three who need help will get it. As a result, many people will either miss work or will get less done on the job.

Regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, education, or income, mental health disorders do not discriminate. The problem is so pervasive in the United States that 44 million adults — or about one of every five — have a mental health disorder.1

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-34

46.2% of U.S. adults with mental illness received treatment in 2020 

  • 64.5% of U.S. adults with serious mental illness received treatment in 2020  
  • Male: 37.4%
  • Female: 51.2%

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that depression and anxiety cost the global economy $1 trillion per year in lost productivity. But WHO also found that for every $1 spent on treating common mental health concerns,
